IntroductionM2E-5000 MPEG2 Encoder

M2E-5000 is a high quality MPEG2 Encoder with multiple analog and digital video and audio inputs, multiple DVB-ASI and IP/Ethernet outputs and remote web-based network management.

M2E-5000 is a professional MPEG2- and DVB-compliant encoder for digital video broadcast encoding applications. Packaged in a 19” wide 1-RU rack mounted chassis, M2E-5000 accepts both analog and digital video along with up to four stereo digital and analog stereo audio pairs. Up to two stereo pairs can be combined with a single video program compressed using 4:2:2 or Main Profile. The compressed data is output in both DVB-ASI and RTP/UDP/IP/Ethernet formats.

The unit compresses the incoming video using both MPEG2 Main Profile @ Main Level (MP@ML) and 4:2:2 Profile @ Main Level (422P@ML), achieving constant bit rates in the range of 2-15 Mbps and 3-50 Mbps respectively. The M2E-5000 performs real-time audio/video encoding and multiplexing to generate DVB compliant transport stream and MPEG2-TS over IP. Compliance with industry standards such as DVB ensures compatibility with a wide range of applications such as distribution, contribution, terrestrial and satellite broadcasts, Field/Satellite News Gathering (FNG/ENG/SNG), Surveillance and Security, etc. For network streaming applica-tions, M2E-5000 performs real-time Unicast and Mulitcast MPEG2-TS broadcast that can be used for real-time video sharing and conferencing.

User interface for monitoring, controlling and configuring the M2E-5000 is provided via the front panel and network. The network control panel provides menus for remote control, con-figuration and monitoring of the M2E-5000 using any web browser.
